SUMMARY:MEDORA MUSICAL
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, June 27: We will depart from Sioux Falls Friday morning (other pickup locations to be determined). We will have lunch at Willies’ Bar & Grill in St. Lawrence before continuing west towards Rapid City. After checking into our hotel\, Alex Johnson\, located in downtown Rapid City\, we will depart for the Fort Hays Chuckwagon Dinner and Show. We will enjoy good ol’ chuckwagon chow and the best live entertainment variety show in the Black Hills. \n \nSaturday\, June 28: Following a hot breakfast at the hotel\, we will journey northward stopping at the High Plains Western Heritage Center. The High Plains are rich with history. It is a region that was at the unique intersection of nearly every cultural and economic circumstance that shaped the American West. The center was founded to preserve the past\, inform the present and interact with visitors through extensive\ncollections\, archives and live events. Opened in September 1989 in Spearfish\, SD\, the center provides more than 20\,000 square feet of presentation space honoring Western legends and pioneers whose rugged individualism created the distinctive landscape and economies\nof this five-state region. You will have time to explore and visit the many exhibits in the center before enjoying a show by Randy Bender\,\nwho brings Fort Meade’s history to life through songs and stories. Lunch will be ready for us immediately following Randy’s show! Immediately following lunch\, we will depart for Medora! \n \nUpon arriving in Medora\, we will check into our hotel and freshen up for a funfilled evening at the Pitchfork Fondue. Every evening the chefs load steaks onto pitchforks and fondue them – western style! Savor your steak as you overlook the Badlands from atop a bluff at the Tjaden Terrace. Your steak comes with fresh fruit and vegetables\, baked beans\, garlic toast\, baked potatoes\, brownies\, cinnamon-sugar donuts\, lemonade and coffee. Next is the Medora Musical! The musical is the rootin’-tootinest show in all the west! Performed live and outside\, under the Badlands. You will be treated to high-energy music\, guest variety acts from around the world\, live horses and more! \n \nSunday\, June 29: Start your day with a beautiful array of your brunch favorites—endless helpings of egg bakes\, breakfast meats and more. Then take in one heck of a gospel show with a full band and gospel singers. The Medora Gospel Brunch is a match made in heaven and a\nwonderful way to spend the morning.\nFollowing the gospel show\, there will be time to explore downtown Medora; you will also have the option to visit the Chateau de Mores historic home. The Chateau de Mores is a 26-rooom\, two-story building that was built in 1883 as the summer residence of the Marquis’s family. The Chateau is now a historic house museum and contains many of the original furnishings and personal effects of the de Mores family.\nLate afternoon\, we will depart for Dickinson\, ND. We will stop at Pizza Ranch for dinner before making our way to\nBeulah\, ND and overnight at the Cobblestone Inn. \n \nMonday\, June 30: Following breakfast we will have a guided tour of the Freedom Mines. You MUST wear close-toed shoes on this tour.\nThe Freedom Mine is the largest lignite mine in the United States. People touring the mine tend to focus on mechanics and operators of big machinery\, they are surprised to learn that the mine also employs a large support staff which includes geologists\, accountants\, human resources\, engineers\, environmental specialists\, and surveyors.
