SUMMARY:Dinner Cruise\, Tours\, and Grease Musical
DESCRIPTION:Friday\, July 25:  We will depart from Miller\, SD with additional pickups along the way (pickup locations to be determined).   After checking into our hotel\, Treasure Island and Casino\, Welch\, MN\, we will experience a relaxing dinner cruise down the Mississippi River.  We’ll enjoy a gourmet meal and panoramic views of Minnesota’s bluff. \n \nSaturday\, July 26:  Following breakfast\, we will depart for the Mill City Museum for a self-guided tour. \nSoon after Minneapolis was born on the Mississippi’s west bank\, the city flour milling industry skyrocketed.  Powered by the mighty river and fed by boxcars of grain rolling in from the plains\, the industry gave Minneapolis bragging rights as the “Flour Milling Capital of the World.” \nThe Washburn A Mill was designed in the late 1800s by Austrian engineer William de la Baare.  After its completion in 1880\, it was declared the world’s largest flour mill.  It operated for 85 years\, expanding into a complex of over a dozen buildings and surviving a 1928 fire.  The mill shut down in 1965 and the abandoned mill was gutted by another fire in 1991. \nFaced with how to preserve the ruins of this historical site while building a modern museum\, Minnesota Historical Society turned to Thomas Meyer\, architect.  Meyer developed a concept that melded the historic integrity of the mill structures with modern components. Construction began in March 2001\, and the museum opened in September 2003.   Some highlights of this tour include the Flour Tower 8-story elevator shows\, Hands-on Water and Baking Labs\, Minneapolis in 19 Minutes Flat! Film\, Rooftop views of the Mississippi River\, St Anthony Falls\, and Stone Arch Bridge.  There is also a museum store featuring city history and cooking merchandise! \n \nFollowing our tour\, we will enjoy lunch at the Bushel & Peck café\, located inside the Mill City Museum.  You will have a choice of Turkey Bacon Club\, Tuna Salad\, or Pesto Chicken Sandwich.  When registering for the tour\, please let us know your choice of sandwich. \n \nAfter lunch we will depart for Bachman’s Floral\, Home & Garden.  Bachman’s has been in business since 1885\, when founder Henry Bachman\, Sr.\, planted potatoes\, lettuce\, onions\, and squash on a plot of land in south Minneapolis.  Today\, that plot contains the firm’s headquarters and acres of floral\, gift\, garden\, and landscaping departments\, and Bachman’s has grown to be one of the largest traditional floral and nursery operations in the world. \n \nWe will be welcomed with a meet and greet to tell us the history of Bachman’s.  Then\, it is your time to browse and look around at all their store has to offer.  Don’t forget to visit Patrick’s Bakery while at Bachman’s and indulge in the finest bakery goods\, pastries\, and chocolates in the Twin Cities.  After departing Bachman’s\, we will check-in to the Country Inn & Suites at Mall of America; take a few minutes to freshen up and then off to Chanhassen Dinner Theatre for dinner and the musical production of “Grease”!  Greased-back hair and leather jackets\, ponytails and poodle skirts\, fast cars and rock’n’roll\, Grease is back!  Experience the nostalgia of high school in the 50’s – peer pressure\, love\, and teenage life set against the campy backdrop of Rydell High!  Discover the drama\, comedy\, and pop-culture satire that has made Grease one of the most popular productions of all time!  Don’t forget the music\, with songs like “Summer Nights\,”” We Go Together\,” “Greased Lightnin’\,” “Beauty School Dropout” and so many others\, including the hits you love from the movie.  Have fun as you groove and bop along! \n \n  \n \n Sunday\, July 27:  Following breakfast\, we will depart for home spending one last day reminiscing with your fellow travelers and newly made friends! \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nCall 605-366-8777 or 800-310-2708 to make your reservation today! \n**Mail all payments to Foreman Charters\, PO Box 351\, Miller\, SD  57362**
