Friday, December 6

We will depart from Miller, SD, for Minneapolis on Friday morning, with additional pick-ups along the way (pick-up locations to be determined). After checking into our hotel, Country Inn & Suites, by Radisson, Bloomington, at Mall of America, we will depart for Redstone American Grill in Eden Prairie to enjoy an elegant dinner featuring a diverse range of culinary delights. Then it is on to the Rock & Roll Christmas Specular production. Get ready to crank your holiday spirit all the way up! This production will surprise and thoroughly delight. This show is a multimedia, musical extravaganza mixing rock hits of the 70s to today with hilarious stories and parodies of favorite yuletide songs as you’ve never heard them before. This 8-piece cast of musicians will rock their way through Christmas classics in the most imaginative way possible. For example, hear the blending of “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” set to Peter Frampton’s “Show Me the Way!” Each song is funnier and, yes, even more cleverly done than the one before it!

Saturday, December 7

Following breakfast at our hotel, we will depart for the James J Hill House. Experience Christmas in 1910 — both upstairs and downstairs — in the sumptuous, gilded age mansion of railroad titan, James J Hill. You will enjoy a 60-minute guided tour highlighting holiday stories and memories of both the Hill family and their staff.

Then it’s back to our hotel and Mall of America for you to grab lunch (on your own), spend the afternoon Christmas shopping, and enjoy the excitement of Mall of America’s vibrant holiday decorations. Oversize nutcrackers, greet guests throughout the mall, and make for fun photo ops. In the North Atrium, a holiday display includes an oversized jack-in-the-box, nutcracker, and more. In Nordstrom Court, giant Christmas ornaments hang overhead and adorn the water fountains.

Late afternoon, we will depart for Chanhassen Dinner Theatre to enjoy dinner and the production of Irving Berlin’s The White Christmas. Veterans Bob Wallace and Phil Davis had a successful song and dance act after World War II. With romance in mind, the two follow a duo of beautiful singing sisters en route to their Christmas show at a Vermont lodge, which just happens to be owned by Bob and Phil’s former army commander. With a dazzling score featuring well-known standards, including “blue Skies,” “I Love a Piano,” “How Deep is the Ocean,” and the perennial title song, “White Christmas” is an uplifting, wholesome musical that will delight audiences of all ages.

Sunday, December 8

Following breakfast at our hotel, we will depart for home, reflecting on the memories made.
