MISSISSIPPI RIVER CRUISE
May 27, 2025 - May 31, 2025
Tuesday, May 27: Today we will depart from Miller, SD, with additional pickups in Mitchell and Sioux Falls. We will have an early lunch in Sioux Falls (on your own) before departing for Wells Visitor Center and Ice Cream Parlor in Le Mars, IA. Le Mars, IA makes more ice cream than any other location on earth! The town of 10,000 people was dubbed the Ice Cream Capital of the World in 1994. We will hear about the “History of Blue Bunny” and “How Ice Cream is Made.” We will be treated to 2 scoops of ice cream—your choice from 42 different flavors!
Then it’s on to West Des Moines, where we will overnight at Sheraton West Des Moines. After checking into our rooms, we will enjoy a group dinner at our hotel.
Wednesday, May 28: Following breakfast at our hotel, we will travel to the Amana Colonies. Upon arriving at the Amana Heritage Museum, we will be greeted by our step-on guide. We will view a short introduction video and then depart for stops at the Communal Kitchen Museum, High Amana General Store, and the Homestead Church Museum. Following the tour, we will enjoy a Communal Meal. After lunch, we will depart for East Moline/Quad Cities.
We will check into our hotel for the evening, Hyatt Place/Hyatt House Quad Cities. We will have time to freshen up
and enjoy some of the views of the Mississippi River from the hotel before we depart for Circa 21 to enjoy dinner and
the Broadway production of “Chicago”! With over 25 years on Broadway and 6 Tony Awards, Chicago is the universal tale of fame, fortune and all that jazz! In roaring ‘20s Chicago, chorus girl Roxie Hart murders a faithless lover. Convicted and sent to death row, Roxie and another “Merry Murderess,” Velma Kelly, vie for the spotlight and the headlines, ultimately joining forces in search of the American Dream: fame, fortune, and acquittal. Featuring spectacular choreograpy and show-stopping songs—such as “We Both Reached For the Gun,” “Cellblock Tango”, “All that Jazz, and “Razzle Dazzle”—Chicago has everything that makes the theater bedazzling!
Thursday, May 29: Bright an early, we will board the RIVERBOAT TWILIGHT in LeClaire, WI. An expanded
continental breakfast will be waiting for you aboard the Riverboat! At 8am, we will depart north on our journey. The
captain will be your guide to the wildlife, valley landscapes, and historic river towns. Enjoy live entertainment, games, two snacks, lunch and dinner before arriving in historic Dubuque, Iowa. Overnight accommodations are at the riverfront Grand Harbor Resort, where your luggage will be waiting for you. After getting your room keys, we will meet back at the trolleys and enjoy a fully narrated historical tour on Dubuque’s past, present, and future.
Friday, May 30: Start your day with breakfast at Tony Roma’s in the resort. Spend the morning, using the complimentary shuttle, exploring Dubuque’s history, architecture, shopping and other attractions. Admission is included to Iowa’s #1 attraction, the must-see Smithsonian-accredited National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium. Enjoy
dynamic aquariums and historical exhibits, a boatyard, the William M. Black dredge boat, and a wetland area along the 14-acre campus. Up-close and personal experiences with live animals take place daily.
We will reboard the Twilight at 11am and depart at 11:30am for our return journey. Take in the sites and listen to the
captain’s narration that you missed on Day 1! Enjoy lunch and dinner served at your table. We will arrive back in Le Claire at approximately 6-6:30pm.
We will check into our hotel for the evening, Hyatt Place/Hyatt House Quad Cities.
Saturday, May 31: Following breakfast, we will depart for home. We will enjoy a lunch buffet at Green Mill
Restaurant in Albert Lea, MN before heading west toward home!
