We will depart Friday morning. (Pickup locations to be determined.) We will stop in Wall, SD and have lunch at Wall Drug (on your own). We will continue on to Hill City, where we will enjoy a ride on the 1880 Train. What could be more fun than enjoying a ride through the Black Hills of South Dakota, on board of an authentic steam train? Our one-way train ride will take us to Keystone, where we will overnight. Following dinner at the Ruby House (choice of Parmesan Crusted Chicken, 1/2 Rack of Ribs or Fried Shrimp) we will go to the lighting of Mt. Rushmore.
Following breakfast at the motel, we will depart for Deadwood. We will enjoy a one hour narrated open-air bus tour of this Wild West Town. Watch as history comes to life right in front of your eyes! You will go through the Historic Streets of Deadwood up to Mt. Moriah, famous Boot Hill, visit the graves of Wild Bill Hickok, Calamity Jane and other gold rush characters. After the tour, you will have lunch (on your own) in Deadwood and maybe even a few minutes to try your luck at one of the casinos.
Following lunch, we will depart for Medora; late afternoon we will check into the Badland Hotel and freshen up for a fun-filled evening at the Pitchfork Fondue. Every evening, the chefs load steaks onto pitchforks and fondue them - western style! Savor your steak as you overlook the Badlands from atop a bluff at the Tjaden Terrace. Your steak comes with fresh fruit and vegetables, baked beans, garlic toast, baked potatoes, brownies, cinnamon-sugar donuts, lemonade and coffee.
Next is the Medora Musical! The musical is the rootin'-tootinest show in all the west! Performed live and outside under the Badlands. You will be treated to high-energy music, guest variety acts from around the world, live horses and more!
Start your day with a beautiful array of your brunch favorites - endless helpings of egg bakes, breakfast meats and more! Then take in one heck of a gospel show with a full band and gospel singers. The Medora Gospel Brunch is a match made in heaven and a wonderful way to spend the morning.
Sunday afternoon we will travel to Bismarck, ND. After checking into our motel, the evening will be spent aboard the Lewis and Clark Riverboat, Sit back and relax as we cruise the majestic Missouri Rover and enjoy a catered meal from Famous Dave's Restaurant.
Following breakfast at our motel, we will enjoy a guided tour of Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park. The Park was established in 1907 and is the oldest state park in North Dakota. Discover old Fort Abraham Lincoln, Fort McKeen and what life was like as a frontier soldier as you journey through the blockhouses and furnished barracks and participate in a living history tour of the commanding officer's quarters. Travel through time and explore rich culture and history of the areaby investigating artifacts at the Visitor Center Museum. Visitors will gain insight into the loves of the Mandan Native Americans who once lived at On-a-Slant Village by venturing through reconstructed earth lodges.
Before departing Bismarck, we will enjoy lunch at Kroll's Diner (on your own) before departing for home.
